Heather is growing M.R.S.A. again. So far it is not in her C.S.F. so that is a good thing. The doctor wants to give her a few more days on antibiotics before putting a new shunt in. He will be putting the new shunt in a different spot from the old one. This means that she will be cut in a new place on her head that hasn't had surgery before. All prayers and well wishes are appreciated.

Heather has staff
So Heather's CSF cultures came back and shows staff. We are waiting to see what today's tests show to know how deep the infection got and how long of a hospital stay we will be looking at.

Heather is in surgery
Yes you heard right. Heather is having her shunt removed and an E.V.D. put in. While rinsing her hair with warm water her scab came off exposing her shunt to the air. If you don't know , that is not ok. She is being treated the same as an infection again. We are in Birmingham.

As you may know...
Heather was in the hospital from 7/31/2013 to 9/8/2013. We are home and doing well.
She got an e-coli bacterial abscess in her abdomen which then infected her shunt causing her to have e-coli bacterial meningitis.
The shunt was removed, infection cleared and a new shunt put back in. She is put all back together now.
We were finally able to put on and take photos of all the kids in the PJ's my Maw Maw made out of my Paw Paw's old shirts. This is especially awesome to me because when I was a kid, I made pajamas with Maw Maw out of Paw Paw's old shirts and wore them all the time.
Here are some photos. Aren't they so cute?

Wow it has been a while
I didn't realize how long it had been since my last post. I must have died and fell off the earth for a while. HaHaHaHa. Well here are a few pictures of some things I have made the kids over the last few months.
Hat for Heather
Tunisian crochet purse for Kayla
A princess dress for Kayla
Shawl/ponch with embroidered initials for Heather
Cars pants for Michael.
I made a crocheted hat for Michael but he destroyed it before I got to take a picture of it. Boys!! Oh well.

Another Heather update
The Neurosurgeon came this evening. He is going to order another CT scan and as long as that still looks stable, then he will let us manage her fever at home. We are to watch for the same warning signs we always have to know if we need to bring her back in or not. Heather will not be able to return to her regularly scheduled activities until we get her fever under control. Thanks everyone for your prayers.

Heather Update
Heather is doing ok. She is starting to run a fever from 101.4 to the 102's. The doctors ran blood tests and everything is looking normal so we aren't sure what the cause of the fever is.
I get to spend the night at home and hopefully get some sleep tonight. I didn't get any sleep last night. Karl is staying with Heather in the hospital tonight. Thank you so much Karl.
Thank you to Sister Barden for relieving me from the hospital so I could take a shower.
Thank you to Sister and Brother Roper for bringing us dinner in the hospital.
Thank you Fraziers for coming to the PICU on Saturday and helping administer a blessing to Heather after we found out the bad news.
Thank you everyone for offering and wanting to help.
We know you love us and we love you too!!
